What to Expect When You’re Wine Tasting

Wine tasting can seem intimidating for newcomers, but the Dundee Hills is known for its hospitality. We welcome everyone, whether you’re a first-time taster or a seasoned connoisseur.

If you’re well-versed in wine, preview the member listings and fine-tune your tastings and experience based on your preferences. We recommend making reservations to ensure your tasting appointments align with your goals.

If you’re newly interested in wine… welcome! We’re thrilled to share this special place with you as you cultivate your palate and preferences. Here are a few tips as you begin planning your adventure:

  1. Unlike some regions that lean towards dressy attire, the Dundee Hills has no dress code. Oregon embraces a come-as-you-are attitude, which extends to our tasting rooms.
  2. Feel free to ask questions. Tasting room staff love sharing their knowledge, recommendations, and stories about the wines and wineries.
  3. Wine tastings often end with an offer to purchase wine or join a wine club. If you enjoy the wines, buy what you are comfortable with and join the club if you wish, but there is no obligation.

Insider’s tip – keep in mind that many of the wines you will taste are only offered for sale at the tasting room.

Explore Beyond the Dundee Hills

We offer unmatched fine dining and wine-tasting experiences. But don’t stop there! We’re under an hour from downtown Portland as well as the stunning Oregon Coast, giving you the chance to visit Powell’s City of Books, the world’s largest independent bookstore and still catch sunset atop the sand dune at Cape Kiwanda.

Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy the Harvey Creek Trail, located in Dundee, which winds through forests and overlooks vineyards on a 1.6-mile adventure with stunning vistas and only moderate elevation gain. An hour away, Silver Falls State Park offers a stunning 10-waterfall hiking loop. If you want to explore a little further,  Mt. Hood offers some of the Pacific Northwest’s best skiing while Smith Rock draws hikers and rock climbers from around the country.
